Introducing Multi-Factor Authentication

Change is in the air - again! - and this time, we’re introducing an optional multi-factor authentication system from December 7th that will deepen the security around user accounts.

The next step in our security upgrade is to introduce multi-factor authentication to the login process. This essentially adds a new layer of security to your login, in addition to your password.

 

MFA ensures that you set and pass security checks and minimise the opportunity for someone (i.e. a competitor) to login to your account and access the sensitive information around future sites or your sites pipeline.

 

After MFA is enabled, you’ll have the option to select one, or multiple other forms of authentication to use to identify yourself, like receiving a one-time password to your phone number or via an app, or using your biometrics to identify yourself. 

 

This is what it will look like logging in on your browser.

 

The system will default to the multi-factor authentication method you chose that has the highest ranking based on security, which, if you choose it, will be the Auth0 Guardian App.

 

It’s likely you’re already familiar with 2-factor or multi-factor authentication in relation to other accounts and software that you use on a daily basis, such as logging into a Microsoft or Apple ID, accessing your social media accounts, or even using apps on your phone, so it’s not going to be an upgrade you haven’t already encountered elsewhere.

    • What’s happening and when? Multi Factor Authentication is launching on December 7 for those who are interested.
  • How do I enable MFA? Contact your Customer Success Manager or Support and request for MFA to be enabled for your organisation.
  • How will it benefit you? This will greatly improve the security of your account.
  • Why are we doing this? To provide a deeper level of protection for our customers and to put us in a better position to make further improvements of this nature in the future.
  • After sign up, what do you need to do? Start by choosing one or multiple forms of verification in addition to your password i.e. biometrics, one-time code. If you have your password saved on your browser you may be asked to re-enter your password (now’s the time to dig it out if you can’t remember it!). You will need to use your multi-factor authentication each time you login so make sure you choose a method that is accessible to you.
